Is your photography HDR Photography?.................
Our company does both version of HDR photography. Both hand blend HDR Photography and Falsh style HDR Photography.
What is Hand Blended HDR Photography?

Hand blended HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography is a technique used to create an image with a greater range of luminosity than what a single exposure can capture. This technique involves manually combining multiple photographs of the same scene, taken at different exposure levels, to achieve a balanced exposure throughout the image. Here’s a breakdown of the process:

  1. Capturing Multiple Exposures: The photographer takes several photos of the same scene at different exposure settings. Typically, this includes one correctly exposed image, one or more underexposed images (to capture details in the highlights), and one or more overexposed images (to capture details in the shadows).

  2. Manual Blending: Unlike automated HDR software that merges these images automatically, hand blending involves using photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop to manually combine the different exposures. This process gives the photographer more control over the final image and can produce more natural-looking results.

  3. Layering and Masking: In Photoshop, each exposure is placed on a separate layer. Using layer masks, the photographer selectively blends parts of each exposure into the final image. For example, they might use the darker exposure to preserve detail in the sky and the brighter exposure to bring out details in the shadows.

  4. Adjustments and Fine-Tuning: After blending the exposures, additional adjustments such as color correction, contrast, and sharpness can be made to refine the image further.

Advantages of Hand Blended HDR Photography

  • Greater Control: Photographers have more precise control over which parts of each exposure are used in the final image, allowing for a more natural look.
  • Avoiding Artifacts: Automated HDR processing can sometimes introduce artifacts or unnatural halos. Hand blending can help minimize these issues.
  • Customization: This method allows for customization according to the photographer’s vision and style.
What is Flash Style HDR Photography?

Flash style HDR hand blended photography is a technique that combines elements of traditional HDR photography with the use of flash to enhance details and dynamic range in images. This method involves taking multiple exposures of a scene, some with flash and some without, and then manually blending these exposures to achieve a well-balanced and detailed final image. Here’s a detailed explanation:

Steps in Flash Style HDR Hand Blended Photography

  1. Capturing Multiple Exposures:

    • Base Exposure: Take a correctly exposed photo without flash to capture the overall scene.
    • Flash Exposures: Take additional photos using flash at varying power levels to illuminate different parts of the scene. The flash helps to fill in shadows and reveal details that might be lost in darker areas.
    • Bracketed Exposures: Optionally, take bracketed exposures (underexposed and overexposed shots) without flash to capture a wider dynamic range.
  2. Organizing the Images:

    • Import all the captured images into photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop.
    • Organize the images in layers, typically with the base exposure on the bottom and flash exposures above it.
  3. Manual Blending:

    • Layer Masks: Use layer masks to selectively blend parts of each exposure. For instance, you might use the flash exposures to enhance details in shadowed areas while preserving the natural ambient light from the base exposure.
    • Brush Tool: Use the brush tool to paint in details from the flash exposures, being careful to maintain a natural look.
  4. Fine-Tuning:

    • Adjust the opacity of each layer to control the intensity of the flash effects.
    • Make additional adjustments such as color correction, contrast, and sharpness to refine the image further.

Advantages of Flash Style HDR Hand Blended Photography

  • Enhanced Details: The use of flash can reveal details in dark areas that would be difficult to recover with ambient light alone.
  • Control Over Lighting: Manual blending allows for precise control over how flash and ambient light are combined, resulting in a more natural look.
  • Reduced Noise: Using flash can help reduce noise in shadowed areas compared to trying to recover details through exposure adjustments alone.
